Bonnyrigg White Eagles FC is one of the oldest and most respected football clubs in Australia, with a proud history spanning over fifty-two years. The club started life in 1968 as ‘Avala Sports Club’, founded by a group of Serbian immigrants who brought their unwavering passion for the game of football to Australia.

Today, our home ground and sports club covers over eight hectares in Bonnyrigg, NSW. The complex includes a main grass field and stadium, along with two additional grass training pitches.

BWE FC have won multiple NPL premierships and championships over the years and boast a long list of talented players who have honed their skills the club.

They include current Socceroo and Red Star Belgrade defender Milos Degenek, who worked his way through our youth system from an early age. Danny Vukovic is another with national team honors who began his career a White Eagle before moving onto the A-League and a career in Europe with KCR Genk in Belgium. Most recently, Luke Ivanovic signed his first professional contract at Sydney FC having come through his junior years at the White Eagles as well as taking his first senior steps as a 16-year old in the famous red jersey.

The culture at BWE FC is incredibly strong and has been built over many years. It is best demonstrated by the loyalty of our players across all age groups. Everyone from the staff, players and coaches to the leadership team follow a set of key values built around Resilience, Enthusiasm, Sacrifice, Purpose, Energy, Commitment and Togetherness.

Bonnyrigg White Eagles FC would like to announce and welcome Steve Karavatakis as our 1st Grade Head Coach for 2022. Steve has a wealth of experience as a player and coach spanning almost 30 years, playing, and coaching at the highest level. Steve said ‘as a player, he and his team mates knew when they travelled to the Rigg to play against BWE FC they were in for a tough, physical game’ He plans on making the Rigg a fortress once again. Steve will be assisted by Franco Cosentino who also brings a wealth of knowledge to BWE. We are looking forward to a positive and attacking football style that Steve will bring to BWE as he did as a player. Welcome to the BWE Football Family again Steve & Franco.

It’s been busy at Bonnyrigg Sports Ground during the lockdown, with the former National Premier League heavyweights wasting no time in preparing their squad for the forthcoming 2022 Football NSW League One Men’s campaign.

The club has been quick to secure some important signings in the battle for promotion which promises to be one of the tightest ever, with four spots on the table.

Two have arrived from NPL NSW Men’s powerhouse Rockdale Ilinden, with attacking option Amaury Gauthier and defender Zac Sfiligoi joining the White Eagles along with Sutherland Sharks’ Jarrad Willey.

Bonnyrigg also managed to secure the signing of highly sort after Sean Eve from competition rivals Spirit FC as well as Brandon Stojcevski from St George FC.

In addition, Christopher Fayers will look to fly high with the White Eagles, arriving in Sydney’s South-West after spending some time abroad in Malaysia and the Northern NPL NSW Men’s competition.

Michael Figueira has also put pen to paper to provide competition for the experienced James Chronopoulous in goals.

Nikola Stegnjajic and George Medojevic also signed their first senior contracts, promoted from the club’s under 20’s while former club junior Andrija Mandic returns to the club after a few seasons away from the ‘Rigg’.

Club juniors Maksim Jez and Alex Barbaro will also be a part of the first grade set up.

Captain Ray Miller and the experienced heads of Sam Gallaway, Goran Subara, David Vrankovic, Asmir Kadric, Radovan Pavicevic and Aaron Peterson have all resigned along with excitement machine Jack Kuipers.

Bonnyrigg White Eagles FC welcomes Chris Keane as 2022 TD for NPL Youth program.

Chris Keane joins the club, as both an FFA & UEFA ‘A’ licenced coach. He has many years of experience working with elite Youth footballers. Some of his previous coaching roles include, working in programs such as the FNSW Institute, FNSW State teams, and Western Sydney Wanderers FC’s Academy where he helped numerous young players to progress onto the A league, Australian National Youth Teams and various overseas Clubs.

Chris will now be in charge, of assisting Bonnyrigg White Eagles Youth players to reach the standard required to play in the clubs’ senior & 1st teams.

The Bonnyrigg White Eagles FC youth program will be ably assisted by Talent Identification & Scouting Expert Doug Henretty. Doug was the Head Scout at Blacktown City for 11 consecutive Seasons. He has since collaborated with FNSW & the FFA in many high-level Youth player selections and he worked directly with Han Berger (FFA TD) for 6 years assisting in the assessment & selection of Australian Youth Teams.

Youth Development

Youth development is a key part of BWE FC.

Our program is run by a team of experienced and passionate football coaches, under the guidance of Dragan Pupovac – our Head of Football. We pride ourselves on developing players from U9’s up, with a focus on building strong technical and tactical skills.

All of our young players are given a holistic understanding of football to help them gain the confidence they need to get to the next level.

The SAP program is led by Technical Director Leo Carle who possesses an A-License.

Our Youth Technical Director is Chris Keane who has a UEFA A License.

BWE FC has a clear pathway to the senior program which is run by First Grade Head Coach Steve Karavatakis and assisted by Franco Cosentino.
